Windows 11 and the Troubleshoot service.

Microsoft will relieve Windows 11 of a tool and a service. It is known as MSDT. The operation will take some time. Gradually, users are oriented towards solving problems.

Windows 11 is evolving and transforming. In a recent intervention, Microsoft announced an important change. It will be introduced with the next version of Windows 11, which is expected for the second half. It consists of redirecting users to the “Get Help” platform provided with Windows when certain MSDT (MMicrosoft SSupport Ddiagnosis Tool) is started.

The schedule is for this redirect to affect all MSDT-related bug fixes in 2024. These are then no longer available from the operating system.

This includes

  • Audio
  • Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)
  • Bluetooth
  • network and internet
  • Printer
  • program compatibility
  • video playback
  • Windows Media Player
  • windows update

If all goes according to plan, the transition will be complete in 2025 when the MSDT platform is completely abandoned. That explains the company

Microsoft is retiring troubleshooters such as the Keyboard and Language Troubleshooter and the Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT) that runs them. These are built-in tools that automatically diagnose and fix common problems for various Windows features at startup. MSDT troubleshooters will be deprecated in the next version of Windows 11, which release date has yet to be determined.

Microsoft states that this change only affects PCs running the version of Windows 11 that introduces this change or later.

The deprecation of MSDT troubleshooters, including redirection and removal of troubleshooters, will take effect on devices running the next version of Windows 11. If you are running Windows 11 version 22H2 and earlier, Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 7 or any other earlier version of the operating system, your device will not be affected by these changes. These operating systems continue to run legacy troubleshooters.
