Windows 11 will finally welcome 3D emojis. Small emoticons are actually used by some insiders. It’s a small event since Microsoft promised its arrival… two years ago. Their absence from the Windows 11 release caused a bit of an outcry from users.
Emoji are important. It’s important to convey an emotion through a message, but it also allows brands to develop their own personality. Emojis are not the same at Apple as they are at Samsung or Google, for example. Microsoft wanted to crack down on 3D emoticons. Two years after their announcement Here they are finally put to use.
Insider Preview program users who were able to download build 25905 were pleasantly surprised that the 3D emojis were present. No revolution in sight – those are just emojis – but we weren’t expecting it anymore. They were scheduled for the launch of Windows 11 in 2021.

The emojis promised by Microsoft were not only in 3D, but had a very original artistic style. almost gives the impression of being made out of modeling clay. Internet users were mesmerized… and the disappointment was great.

Microsoft didn’t keep its promise as Windows 11 had no rights to 3D emojis when it was released. Worse, the Redmond company had literally released new icons in a flatter 2D style. Since then, followers of 3D emojis have been clamoring for their arrival. Meanwhile, Microsoft was still dealing with the issue without giving any further details. Finally the patience paid off because they are finally here. It was time !
When the 3D emojis will be available for the consumer version is not yet known, but if the tests go well, they should arrive in the next few weeks. You could also sign up for the big fall update, which is expected in October.
