Winona Ryder provided 1980s fact checks on Stranger Things and even got script edits for timing: “It’s just epic how wild her mind is.”

She became a movie star in the 1980s.

And Winona Ryder brought her expertise of the decade to her hit Netflix series Stranger Things, set in the Reagan era.

Her co-star David Harbor told Harper’s Bazaar that Winona had an encyclopedic knowledge of the “tiny, tiny details” of the time and even managed to secure some script changes for accuracy’s sake.

Stranger Things was founded by the Duffer Brothers, a pair of identical twins born in 1984 the day after Valentine’s Day.

Winona, on the other hand, was a teenager for much of the 1980s, during which time she found fame in films such as Beetlejuice and Heathers.

David revealed that she was able to use her memories of the time to correct the creators and writers when they made a mistake.

“It’s just epic how wild her mind is and how it goes in all these different corners,” gushed the heartthrob.

She said: “I created this whole kind of fantasy world. There was an old theater that I loved and dreamed of living there. Like ripping out the seats and having a bed and a bathtub and a bike and watching movies all the time.

Stranger Things follows the residents of a fictional small town in Indiana in the 1980s, where bizarre supernatural events occur that lead to a boy’s disappearance.

Winona plays Joyce Byers, the mother of missing boy Will Byers, played by Noah Schnapp, on the show.

Part one of Stranger Things season four hit Netflix last month, part two is coming July 1, and a fifth and final season thereafter.
