BMW offers an optional wireless charging pad for smartphones for its new car models. Apparently it would disable the NFC chip on the new iPhone 15s.

We didn’t see that coming. The combination of BMW and iPhone 15 would not go well together, according to the very reputable media MacRumors. In fact, several Internet users on X and the MacRumors forums have reported a funny mishap that happened to them. After charging their new iPhone on their BMW’s wireless charging pad, some users found that Apple Pay became completely unusable.

Currently, the error appears to primarily affect users of all four iPhone models and one BMW. According to affected customers, the iPhone would enter data recovery mode and display a white screen before indicating that the NFC chip was no longer functional. Even after resetting the iPhone 15 to factory settings, the problem didn’t seem to be solved.
