The Witcher fans have started a petition demanding Henry Cavill’s return to the series – after he was replaced in the role by Liam Hemsworth.
In a new Instagram post, the 32-year-old Australian heartthrob revealed that he was “over the moon with the opportunity” to play the TV show’s monster hunter protagonist.
But some viewers of the show aren’t happy with the new choice, and a Change.org petition has since been launched, which has already garnered over 12,000 signatures.

The open letter calls for Henry to return to the series, and the signers also want the writers replaced.
It said: “Henry isn’t leaving The Witcher for Superman, Netflix executives have again made a serious decision not to deliver for their fans.
“The reason The Witcher is such a popular show is because of fans’ love of the source material from books and games that were hated and actively ridiculed by the writers and showrunners.

“Henry Cavill is one of those huge fans, he knows everything inside out and wanted to stay true to Sapkowski’s world, which is why Netflix wants to replace him.”
The petition also urged fans to boycott the upcoming season.
The petition concluded: “We’ve already suffered the catastrophe that spelled the end of Game of Thrones – NETFLIX isn’t repeating the exact same mistake of sticking with writers and showrunners who believe they are superior to the actual creator of the stories that made them successful.” “
Netflix was contacted by Web for comment.

While another suggested, “You should just end it after season 3, there is no witcher without Henry”.
But some were ready for the change as they welcomed Liam as a character, writing, “I want to give Liam a chance before I’m negative about it.”
And it seems the two actors are looking out for each other too, as Henry sent Liam a congratulatory message via Instagram while announcing his own departure.
He wrote: “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with monsters and adventures and sadly I will be laying down my medallion and swords for Season 4.
“In my place, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will assume the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest characters in literature, I pass the torch with reverence for the time I’ve spent impersonating Geralt and with enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most intriguing and nuanced man.
“Liam good sir there is such wonderful depth to this character, have fun diving in and see what you can find.”
Devastated: Fans had a lot to say, with one even suggesting, “They should just cancel the whole show.”
While declaring that he was “over the moon” to take on the role, Liam shared, “As a Witcher fan, I’m over the moon to have the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia.
“Henry Cavill was an incredible Geralt and I am honored that he is handing me the reins and allowing me to pick up the Blades of the White Wolf for the next chapter of his adventure.
“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher,” he concluded.
