By defeating Buffalo Sabers goaltender Eric Comrie, No. 11 joined Bobby Rousseau in 24th with 200 goals. It took him 643 games to get there compared to 667 for Gallagher, who started his career in 2013. However, he will have to wait until next season and avoid further injuries to continue climbing.
His next targets are Elmer Lach and Ralph Backstrom, authors of 215 goals each in Montreal.
Max Pacioretty (226), Stéphane Richer (225), Pete Mahovlich (223) and Guy Carbonneau (221) follow further up the rankings 18 to 21. Obviously, the 30-year-old veteran can forget the stratosphere of the Maurice Richard-dominated rating. The Rocket threaded the needle 544 times, compared to 518 and 507 for Guy Lafleur and Jean Béliveau, respectively. Eight men have reached the 300 life goals milestone while wearing Montreal uniforms.
The past three years have hurt Gallagher, limited to 27 goals in 120 appearances. So far this season he has collected six in 29 duels. With any luck, he could hit the 10-goal mark in his 10th season in the National Hockey League.
