As part of the preparations for the playoffs on Monday 13 June, the Peruvian team will play a friendly against New Zealand this Sunday 5 June in Barcelona. The match between the two teams is scheduled for 10:30 am (Peruvian time) and will be played at the RCDE Stadium.
Despite bookmakers listing those led by Ricardo Gareca as favourites, the Kiwis will want a win to get motivated in the playoff game they will play against Costa Rica for one of the last two places at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Although there is still almost a week before Peru can claim the winner of the crucial match Australia vs United Arab Emirates, the “Tiger” Gareca will field his best eleven. The team would be the same that played the last few dates of the South American qualifiers. The only changes would be Aldo Corzo, Marco López and Pedro Aquino replacing Luis Advíncula, Miguel Trauco and Renato Tapia respectively.
