Cheeses with Santa Catarina DNA performed well again at the World Cheese Awards, the “Oscars” of delicacy, held this year in the city of Trondheim, Norway. And once again, Pomerode Alimentos stood out among the Brazilian competitors and was the only brand in Latin America to win a Super Aro medal awarded when all jurors are unanimous in their assessment of the high quality of the product.

The honor came with Morro Azul cheese, made from cow’s milk and white mold. Described by the company as “smooth and very creamy,” it is wrapped in a wooden belt that helps compose aroma and flavor. The same product I had already taken a Superaro in competition in 2022.
In addition, Pomerode Alimentos won five other medals, including two gold, one silver and two bronze the list of recipients can be found in the gallery below. Compared to last year’s competition, the company was able to double the number of medals in 2022 there were three podium places.

The 35th edition of the World Cheese Awards 2023 brought together 4,500 cheese samples from more than 40 countries. In total, Brazilian producers won 23 medals. The results were published on Saturday (28).
