Wokistan is not an invention – Le Journal de Montréal

News recently published an insane article by The Canadian Press that talks about “Conservative Nationalism’s Invention of the Wokes” and suggests they are five naughty chroniclers of the wokes protocol (Richard, Joseph, Denise, Mathieu and I) who “invented” nothing less than this concept.

However, in the past few days alone, three internationally renowned personalities (who do not work for Quebecor) have made anti-woke outings.

DIVERSITY AND INTEGRATION

Do you know Richard Dreyfuss, the star of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Jaws? In a PBS interview, he said the Oscars’ new “diversity and inclusion rules” made him “puke.”

The presenter informed him that starting in 2024, to be eligible for the Best Picture Oscar, works must include a certain percentage of actors and technical staff from underrepresented racial or ethnic groups.

“It makes me vomit,” Dreyfuss replied. Nobody should tell me as an artist that I have to submit to the latest fashion idea, the latest vision of morality.

There is no minority or majority in the country that needs to be treated like this. (…) Are we crazy? We don’t know anymore that art is art? It’s so patronizing! It’s so stupid, we treat people like children. »

Last week, Satanic Verses author Salman Rushdie spoke about rewriting books to remove “offensive” words, a subject I’ve spoken to at length with you from James Bond to Roald Dahl to Agatha Christie. “We must let the book reach us from its time and let it be of its time. And if it’s hard for you to take, don’t read it and read another book.”

Le Figaro published an article on Monday entitled: Faced with devastating consequences of wokism and abandonment culture, Tom Hanks protests book rewriting. It’s weird Tom Hanks doesn’t write in the Journal.

But what he said Richard, Joseph, Denise, Mathieu and I could have written in one of our columns. “I think we’re all adults here. Let’s trust our own judgments instead of letting someone else decide what might and might not offend us.”

“Let me decide what offends me and what doesn’t.” He also stated that he “would not read any book, in any index, marked ‘Abridged for modern reasons.'”

SET THE CLOCKS TO THE TIME

On Monday, Le Figaro published another article titled “Disney Studios Plunge The Little Mermaid In A Wakeful Bath.”

The Wall Street Journal recently published an article entitled, “Ideologues have taken over America’s art museums.”

In December, the National Post ran a column entitled “Canada’s National Gallery Has Become A Woke National Shame” / “Le Musée des Beaux-Arts du Canada est une Shame Nationale Woke”.

The last thing I heard was that neither Le Figaro nor the Wall Street Journal nor the National Post were part of Empire Quebecor.

To say that it’s just Richard, Joseph, Denise, Mathieu and I denouncing Woke Drifts like it’s a fad made up from scratch is ridiculous!
