A tragic and endless flight. As reported by The Guardian, Helen Rhodes, a mother, died in her sleep on Friday 5 August embarking on a flight between Hong Kong and the UK, causing real ordeal for her family. While the victim could not be revived, her lifeless body, along with her two children and her husband, remained in her seat for a further 8 hours while the plane made an emergency landing in Frankfurt, Germany.
“For the remaining 8 hours of the flight, Helen remained in her seat in a breathless sleep. Although it was extremely traumatic for the family, they all had time to tell him what they had to say,” a friend of the victim told our colleagues . Due to protocol in place, the body of the mother, who is a midwife, remained in Frankfurt when the plane landed while her husband and two children returned to their homeland in the UK.
An open kitten to help the family
A fund was opened to help his family pay for the burial and repatriation costs of his remains. The drama moved to Great Britain, more than 23,000 euros have already been raised. After more than 15 years together in Hong Kong, Helen and her family planned to start a new chapter in their home country, where they are returning for the first time since the pandemic began.
