A hotel worker's attitude in Australia went viral on social media after a customer named Kitti expressed her dissatisfaction at discovering six cockroaches in her room. The situation, which occurred at the Koala Tree Motel in Port Macquarie, had an impact after she recorded a conversation with the facility's employee demanding a refund of the daily rate. The case occurred this Monday the 18th and was shared by the New York Post.
The customer had selected the 2.5star hotel on Google for her stay with a sick family member in the hospital. In the video published on her TikTok, which has already accumulated more than R$ 250,000 views, Kitti demands a full refund of the daily rate, but the hotel employee refuses, saying he has “no desire” to refund the amount.
The footage, later republished by the New York Post, shows the customer confronting the front desk clerk about the cockroaches' presence. The attendant defends the cleanliness of the room and denies any responsibility for the infestation. The customer argues that the appearance of one or two cockroaches is understandable, but the presence of six is not “normal.”
When requesting a refund, the employee's reaction is surprising because he only offers the amount for a room upgrade. The customer, who is staying with her husband, explains the reason for her stay, but the waitress responds insensitively: “I don't care if you're emotional.” […] What should I do about the animals with legs that were running around your room?”
The publication of the case on social media sparked a debate among Internet users, some of whom supported the customer and criticized the hotel's stance, while others mocked the situation. Amid the differing opinions, one netizen ironically commented, “Do you want fivestar service in a place with only two?”
