Woman helps a trapped hawk and ends up with 10 cm claws stuck in her hand

A woman helping an injured hawk received a very strong “handshake” from the bird of prey, which dug its claws right into her hand.

Julie Sivia, 37, a resident of Florida, USA, said she was going to church on the 22nd when she faced the bird caught in a sticky mousetrap. With the best of intentions, she decided to help the wild animal.

In a video on TikTok, she revealed that she paid a high price for it: The falcon buried its newly freed claws so deep in her hand that Julie could no longer move them. The recording has been viewed over 1.3 million times.

In the video, which already shows the situation under control of the Florida Fire Department, Julie can be heard screaming in pain.

“I really thought it was just an easy rescue,” Julie said in an interview with Kennedy News.

She adds that the pain was of an intensity “she’s never felt in her life” — imagine what a bird of prey with six fangs on its back feels like.

Already rescued, Julie was taken to a hospital where she received a tetanus shot and wound treatment. The falcon is also doing well and has been taken to a local sanctuary.
