Liberal Party MP André Albert Morin’s call for the term “carrier” to be replaced by “carrier” in Family Law Reform Bill 12 was not digested by the Attorney General at all and was announced on the microphone by Richard Martineau, over QUB radio.
“It is not true that we are going to remove the word woman from our legal texts,” said Simon Jolin-Barrette.

In addition, Mr. Jolin-Barrette tabled a motion in the National Assembly affirming that the term “woman” will remain here. It was accepted unanimously.
“We will not tell women that they do not exist in our laws,” he protested.

The minister recalled the struggles women have waged to assert their rights in Quebec society. In addition, he insisted on the language of his draft law, which he believes is already included.
