Since the Apple integrates the AirPods the network Find (Find My)we started seeing many stories of people finding their lost/stolen headphones very easily over long distances or even using them as smart trackers.
Elizabeth Haydenan American from Washington state, for example, got her pair of AirPods back after a real mishap at the airport.
According to CNN, it all happened when she realized she had forgotten her jacket on the plane she was getting off. After telling the airline what had happened, she was prevented from returning to the plane but had the help of a company employee to get the clothes back. Everything seemed fine until she realized her AirPods weren’t in her jacket pocket where she had left them.
This happened only after she had already boarded another flight, causing her to open the Buscar app to monitor the object’s every step. She took backtoback screenshots of the headphones’ path throughout her journey and also marked them as “lost” resulting in a message with her name and phone number automatically appearing on the iPhone of whoever had them.
After unsuccessfully calling the airline and the airport where it all happened, she sought help from the police and was informed that the address shown on the Buscar app could be that of an airport employee. When questioned, the man initially denied even owning the AirPods, but eventually backed down when confronted with the screenshots showing his home as the object’s whereabouts.
Twelve days later, she got her AirPods back and even won $272 from the airline to buy a new pair of headphones as they were in poor condition and 5,000 airline miles as an apology. All of this, however, after I was very insistent on some form of compensation.
