Woman reveals she lets her friend breastfeed her baby so she can drink alcohol

A woman has revealed she let her friend breastfeed her baby after drinking too much, and TikTok users felt nauseous after seeing her child’s mother prioritize her alcohol over her baby.

Grace, from Florida, who goes by the name gregariously_grace on TikTok, took to social media to share a video of her friend breastfeeding her baby, causing many social media users to squirm in disgust.

The video, which has racked up over 1.2 million views, shows Grace’s friend breastfeeding Grace’s baby while she sat idly by and watched.

In the video, she wrote, “If you got a few drinks in there you let your girlfriend breastfeed your baby.”

And while some users offered Grace their support, most users couldn’t believe she let someone else breastfeed her baby “for a drink.”

After being largely despised by her 106,000+ followers, Grace decided to post a follow-up video that once again showed her friend breastfeeding her baby.

In her second video, Grace documented the moment her friend breastfed her baby as she sat to the side and watched.

“My friend has a seven-month-old child. Your baby is out of the country for the weekend.

“I let her breastfeed him to boost his immune system and relieve her,” she said in her follow-up video.

Grace added: “It’s absolutely fine to drink and breastfeed. When you feel sober enough to drive, you can breastfeed.”

However, the mother-of-one noted that she let her friend breastfeed her baby because she “trusts” her, since her friend is also breastfeeding her own baby.

Many users supported the mother of a child, while others should make judgments and raise health concerns.

And while the mother of a child may support sharing breast milk, the American Academy of Pediatrics “disadvises” informal milk sharing.

Informal sharing of breast milk refers to the transfer of breast milk to an infant through direct breastfeeding, even though the breast milk has not gone through milk bank protocols.

The dangers of informal milk sharing:

  • The FDA noted that there are many risks associated with informal milk sharing, which relates to the transmission of breast milk through direct breastfeeding to an infant, even though the breast milk has not gone through milk bank protocols.
  • The first risk is disease transmission, including HIV and bacteria.
  • Another risk is exposure to chemical pollutants such as illegal and prescription drugs.
  • The third risk is contamination of food when the mother is when

“Informal milk sharing is discouraged by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) but has grown in popularity, most likely through online milk-sharing groups and personal anecdotes being shared on parenting blogs.”

A recent survey conducted by the AAP found that 50 percent of 650 mothers who took part were not concerned about the safety of breast milk sharing.

A related study found that the majority of online blog posts discussing milk sharing emphasized informal milk sharing without addressing health risks.

In addition, the FDA noted that there are many health risks associated with sharing breast milk informally, including exposure to infectious diseases including HIV, chemical contaminants such as illegal drugs, and a limited number of prescription drugs that may be present in breast milk.

And while the mantra for breastfeeding new moms is, “Boobs are best,” many women choose to breastfeed their child, or choose not to.

This can lead to informal sharing, which can create a safety hazard for the infant.

“Women who are unable to produce enough milk to exclusively breastfeed their child can supplement formula with formula or donated breast milk, which is available through formal milk banks,” the AAP said.

The Human Milk Banking Association of North America has various policies and protocols for receiving donated milk.

The milk received from HMBANA is screened, pooled and cultured to ensure infants are not exposed to any harmful bacteria or contaminants.

Despite warnings about sharing milk informally, many like Grace are taking the risk.

Grace’s video garnered over 43,000 likes and plenty of comments from her followers, many of whom expressed their concerns, even adding that it showed drinks were “more important” than her baby.

“No, my baby is more important than drinks,” said one user.

Another user added, “Wow I’m surprised at how many people support this, I’m not sure I’d be interested but fair enough!”

‘In emergencies definitely [not] so you can have a drink,” commented another user.

“Why do people think this is ok,” wrote another user.

One user said, “Bottled milk yes, but not straight from the tap.”

“Too intimate, no chance. Don’t drink,’ said another.

Another user added: “For some reason the thought of someone else feeding my baby always made me so uncomfortable. Definitely a DJ for me!’

And while most of her followers were appalled, some users expressed support for the mother-of-one.

‘That is beautiful. You can still breastfeed after a drink or two (or three), but if a friend can help – why not. I would be honored to do so,” wrote one user.

“When they say it takes a village, that’s exactly what they mean,” said another user.

One user said: “This is so beautiful. If only we could go back to the ‘it takes a village’ mentality. Also kudos to mom who didn’t want to risk it.

Another added: “This is real femininity, sisterhood. We used to do that. It’s still a beautiful moment. A woman who shares the most intimate, the most sacred…’
