Woman trips on airport conveyor belt, catches foot and has leg amputated

A 57yearold woman has stumbled on an airport conveyor belt and the consequences will be devastating as her leg was amputated after her foot was stuck in equipment for several hours and required assistance.

The case took place at Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand this week, startling passing passengers.

They tried to stop the conveyor belt with the emergency button, but couldn’t get it out in time, so their leg was ripped out by the motors.

She was immediately taken to Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital and received the sad news that her leg could not be reattached due to the serious accident and the conditions in which she arrived at the hospital.

According to airport director Karun Thanakuljeerapat, all conveyor belts are inspected daily and due to the accident, all escalators and escalators would be shut down pending further investigation.
