After the government arrested Nicolás Maduro Rocio San Miguel, A number of women from different countries spoke out against the event and supported the militia expert.

The activist, known for her extensive knowledge of the military field, suffered an arrest that, for many, has an authoritarian and repressive character. This event occurred on Friday, February 9, at Simón Bolívar Airport in the Venezuelan capital. Since then, various voices from national and international politics and justice have expressed their rejection of the Venezuelan government's decision and also supported Rocío San Miguel.

What is “Today we are all Rocío”?

Through social networks, various political and civil society figures in Spanish-speaking countries met to participate in a video in which they presented arguments underpinning the injustice of the detention of Rocío San Miguel. Some testimonies suggest that the activist's relatives were also imprisoned in order to weaken her psyche and thus reap greater benefits from her imprisonment.

  • Who is Rocío San Miguel and why is she locked up?

    Rocío San Miguel is the head of the NGO Control Ciudadano and has extensive experience in Venezuela's defense and national security. In addition, she is widely known for her protests and constant opposition to both Hugo Chávez and now Nicolás Maduro.

    Tarek William Saab, Prosecutor of the State of Venezuela, explained that the arrest was due to the fact that she was part of the Brazalete Blanco conspiracy, which allegedly aims to assassinate Nicolás Maduro.
