Women’s Hockey: The Rivalry Series ends in Quebec

The national women’s teams of Canada and the United States will end their battle in the 2022-2023 Rivalry Series in Quebec, with meetings scheduled in Trois-Rivières and Laval in February.

The Americans control this showdown between the two most decorated teams in women’s hockey history after winning three of the first five games. With the support of the local crowd, the Canadians could turn the tables and claim the highest honors with victories in La Belle province.

The Maple Leaf representatives also won the two most recent games in the series in the American West, in Henderson and Los Angeles.

“The Montreal Canadiens have long supported women’s hockey and this initiative is a continuation of our commitment to help the sport grow,” Margaret Belanger, President, Hockey and Entertainment, Groupe CH, France, said in a press release on Thursday. We are proud to be partnering with Hockey Canada on an event that will showcase high quality talent including many Quebec born players such as our own Marie-Philip Poulin who will have the chance to play on Quebec soil in front of their fans . »

After rumors last year that Poulin could wear the jersey of the Trois-Rivières Lions, she will finally play at the Colisée Vidéotron, the ECHL team’s amphitheater, on February 20. Place Bell will host the final duel two days later.

“We hope these games will inspire young girls and boys to pursue their hockey dreams. We can’t wait to play at home in front of the best fans in the world,” said Poulin.

This is the first game between Canada and the United States in Quebec since the 2017-18 Rivalry Series. On November 22, 2017, the Americans won 5 to 2 at the Videotron Center.
