The film focuses on the younger Willy – a character from Roald Dahl’s famous 1964 book Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Wonka is the third film based on the book – in 1971, Gene Wilder starred as Willy in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and in 2015, Johnny Depp starred as Willy in the Tim Burton version of the book.

The trailer begins with Hugh’s character – an Oompa Loompa named Lofty – being caught by Timothee’s Willy when they first meet.

He is seen sneaking in to steal treats from a jar that appear to be made of milk chocolate and white chocolate – only to fall into an elaborate trap that imprisons him.

‘Caught!’ You can hear Timothee saying.

“So you’re the funny little man who followed me,” Willy says, staring at him in the clear glass bottle.

“Funny little man?” “How dare you,” he says to Willy. “I want you to know that I’m a perfectly respectable size for an Oompa Loompa.”

Lofty knocks on his glass prison as a confused Willy says, “An oompa-what-now?”

“In fact, in Loompaland I’m considered some kind of madness. “They call me Lofty,” he tells him.

“I’m sorry,” Willy apologizes.
