Wordle is a deceptively simple game, but in case you’re new to everyday puzzles, here’s how it works.
Players have six chances to find a different five-letter word each day. You have to use the elimination process to solve the puzzle, which means you have to pay attention to the color of the tiles.
With each tip, the letter tiles appear in one of three colors. If the tile turns grey, the letter will not appear in the word you are guessing.
When the tile turns yellow, the letter you guessed is in the word, just not in the correct position. When the tile turns green, the letter is in the word and in the right place.
If you really want a challenge, Wordle offers a hard mode that prevents players from guessing letters that have already been ruled out. However, it’s risky because if you don’t solve the puzzle, you’ll have to wait until the next day for a new wordle to be released.
General Wordle tips and tricks…
• Do not use the same letter twice in the opening guess.
• Try using a few vowels, especially “A” and “E” in your first guess.
• Avoid letters like “X”, “Z” and “Q” until you have a better idea of the answer later.
• “RAISE” is a good word to start with, while “TOUCH” is a decent second guess.
