World Cup Soccer Highlights Denmark vs. China: Denmark win by victory – FOX Sports

The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 resumed on Saturday with a Group D clash between Denmark and China at HBF Park in Perth, Australia.

Denmark won an unofficial title in 1970 but since then the country has remained quiet on the world stage, most recently reaching the quarter-finals in 1995. This is Denmark’s first World Cup appearance since 2007. However, it was a late stage for Denmark to prevail against China, who are taking part in their eighth World Cup.

In a tough defensive battle, Denmark found a hero in Amalie Vansgaard in the final minute of regulation time to secure the decisive group win.

87′: Controversial no call

With both sides desperate for their first goal, tensions grew in Denmark after the team felt the tackle deserved a foul.

55 minutes: Exhilarating game!

Stepping out of the goalie’s box is a risky proposition, but big risks can be rewarded. For Lene Christensen, using this chance in the defensive third could have prevented a goal from China. It’s a gamble your manager probably wholeheartedly endorsed.

51 minutes: The goal is missed

Denmark responded with an attack of their own, narrowly missing a chance in the open goal after forcing the Chinese goalkeeper out of position.

49′: Shift into gear

China were very aggressive at the beginning of the second half and could have taken the lead, but Denmark’s Christensen made a nice save.

40′: That doesn’t work!

In the early stages it was a back and forth on the defensive, partly physical. But Denmark’s Rikke Sevecke eventually got a little too physical and received a yellow card for grabbing her opponent and then throwing her to the ground.

1′: A somewhat ambitious attempt

Kathrine Kühl tried to test the Chinese goalkeeper early on in front of the goal, but her shot on goal went wide.
