World Series Game 4 Highlights: Rangers defeat Diamondbacks to take series lead 3-1 – FOX Sports

Game 4 of the 2023 World Series between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks began with the news that Texas would be without ALCS MVP Adolis García and coveted trade deadline signing Max Scherzer. It ended with the Rangers beating the Diamondbacks 11-7 in Arizona to take a 3-1 lead.

Texas led 10-0 after three innings, thanks in large part to its $500 million center fielder Marcus Semien and Corey Seager. Semien’s two-run triple followed by Seager’s two-run home run in the second inning gave the Rangers a five-run lead before Semien opened the lead with a three-run home run in the third inning.

Jonah Heim added a home run in the eighth inning, and the D-Backs clawed back some late runs, thanks largely to a four-RBI performance by Lourdes Gurriel Jr., including a three-run home run in the eighth inning.

Josh Jung, in addition to his usually stellar defense, also played the offensive catalyst, scoring three times and scoring the game’s first run on a wild pitch. Travis Jankowski also performed admirably in his first playoff start in García’s place, scoring two runs, two hits and two RBIs.

The Rangers can now overcome the Diamondbacks and win the first World Series title in their 63-year franchise history with a win on Wednesday (5:03 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports App).

Young and restless!

Now it’s Texas’ turn to play little ball, as Josh Jung doubled, moved to third on a groundout and then scored on a wild pitch for the game’s first run.

Marcus Semien officially put a difficult playoff stretch behind him with a two-out, two-run triple to give the Rangers a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

WORLD. SERIES. SEAGER.
