World Water Day CO2 reduction through locally treated drinking water

World Water Day: CO2 reduction through locally treated drinking water

Access to clean, high-quality drinking water is a basic need that requires careful use of local resources. In many places, the daily supply of drinking water is guaranteed by the liter with plastic bottles – mainly in public places and offices. Although the quality of drinking water in Austria far exceeds the international average, the use of PET bottles is still common.

Many regions of the world do not have access to safe drinking water. Austria has that privilege but is not using its full potential. With today’s technological possibilities, it is unnecessary to continue using plastic bottles. It is up to us to establish a responsible consumption of drinking water to interact sustainably with the environment and counteract the madness of plastic.

Support for environmentally conscious companies
maxwater helps to sustainably reduce plastic waste with tap water dispenser solutions. As a founding member of the microplastics-free alliance, the 100% Austrian company from Hollabrunn also places a strong focus on removing unwanted pollutants and microplastics from drinking water. Only smart filter technologies from Austria are used, which are transferred to a professional local recycling cycle after use. Maxwater’s mission: to help businesses, the hotel and catering industry and families to reduce their carbon footprint without having to give up the pleasure of high quality drinking.

We work hard to continuously optimize the maxwater concept for eco-friendly and resource-saving drinking water treatment in order to improve our world sip by sip. maxwater is actively committed to microplastic free drinking water and donates a portion of monthly proceeds to the microplastic alliance. I am convinced that we are on a promising path to create greater awareness of sustainable drinking water supply.

Good for the environment and the body
In 2018, more than 49,000 tons of plastic bottles were sold in Austria. That equates to around 181 plastic bottles per person per year. According to forecasts, by 2029 there will already be 52,000 tons per year. maxwater’s line-connected water dispenser solutions actively take action against plastic madness with the use of smart filter technologies. For comparison: A single BWT MPC500 filter saves about 2,500 1 liter plastic bottles. Furthermore, not only do they provide a better alternative to packaged plastic bottles, which often have to travel long distances, but they also treat drinking water. Filters refine tap water directly on site, enrich it with valuable magnesium and thus do something good for the body and the environment.
