Would Germany intervene militarily?

It may seem surprising that during his visit to Kiev, Polish President Andrzej Duda emphasized that Ukraine has the right to self-determination. In fact, voices in Germany are becoming increasingly audible, urging Kiev to move closer to Putin to end this senseless war. With each week and month that people die in the shooting, these voices increase in volume. Because Ukraine cannot win the war against all-powerful Russia, it is said over and over again.

But anyone calling for a quick end to the fighting should consider the experience of the Ukrainians, who say a deal with Putin will not bring peace. It would only restore the state that existed before the start of the final Russian invasion. A state of affairs in which Russia occupied Ukrainian territory and continued to ignite incessantly to not allow the already bloody conflict to cool off. And the Ukrainian experience will also teach us something else: even if states like Germany declared themselves guarantor powers in a “peace agreement”, it would still have to be demonstrated that they would fulfill that promise in an emergency. Because that would mean militarily opposing Putin’s Russia.
