Method Man apologized to Destiny’s Child on Math Hoffa’s podcast My Expert Opinion.
In a recent episode, the 51-year-old Wu Tang Clan rapper opened up about an incident at the 2004 MOBO Awards where he left an encounter with Destiny’s Child and felt offended.
The New York native decided to start over and described his first interactions with the group back in 2000.

At the time, Destiny’s child consisted of Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett, and LaTavia Roberson, although the latter two members left the group before the 2004 awards show incident.
“That was when there were four of them, the original members,” he said. “Very nice, very cordial and all. I always kept that in my head like it was some decent young ladies and shit.
Despite a great first impression, the relationship between the rap legend and the group that listed Michelle Williams soured at the aforementioned awards show.

‘We were [there for] Janet Jackson’s icon [award]’ said Method Man, born Clifford Smith, Jr. ‘I remember just coming off the stage and where we were sitting, [there were] nothing but VIPs. We had *NSYNC up here, Destiny’s Child right there, Tommy Lee was over here, Pink.
Method Man said he saw the women and went over to say hello to them at the event.
“But I guess comfort zone here, I’ll say what’s up with the girls. I love her, I’m just gonna say hello,” he said. “I walk over to say hello to them and when I said hello they didn’t even turn to acknowledge me.”
The rapper said that with his “low self-esteem,” he thought they “did him,” though he now admits they “didn’t even hear me.” It was so loud in that motherf****r. That’s the apology I’m offering right now – they didn’t even fucking hear me.’

Feeling insulted by the then-popular girl group, he declined a handshake from the ladies later that evening.
‘Afterward, [producer] Rockwilder, he wanted to do the Bootylicious song for them,” he said. “He comes over, he talks to them, he says, ‘Oh, you know [Redman of Wu-Tang Clan] and meth?” And they put out their hands to shake and I held my hand here and said, ‘Go, head with that Hollywood shit.’
He continued that the interaction still hurts him because “neither Kelly, Beyonce, nor Michelle ever did anything to me.
“But I was so unhappy and in that damn moment I felt like they didn’t treat me the way I should have been treated,” he added. “Who am I to think that about these girls? They are here to promote themselves and break records and stuff like that. And it wasn’t about me, it was about Janet f*****g Jackson.’
Eventually, Method Man formally apologized to the group, saying: “And to this day, man, I don’t think I ever apologized for that. My apologies to Beyonce, my apologies to Kelly Rowland and Michelle — you all didn’t deserve this at all.”
