did you notice Tim Cook and his cronies never said the words “intelligence” and “artificial” in the same sentence during the 126-minute opening speech of WWDC 2023. Craig Federighi who will say the opposite but none of these are “artificial” even as reality becomes virtual. Apple doesn’t seek novelty to follow trends, it relies on innovation to design products.

Apple is reluctant to use terms it hasn’t defined. Why talk about “Mixed Reality” or “Metaverse” when it can also be about “Spatial Computing”? While Microsoft wants to find a middle ground between virtual reality and augmented reality, and Meta wants Facebook to be forgotten by leaping with both feet into a new universe, the Cupertino-based company claims to be reinventing the personal computer – exactly that.
Text composition is “even smarter”, Journal app suggestions are “smartly curated”, widget color is “smart tinted” on the macOS Sonoma desktop, music sharing with AirPlay and web browsing are enhanced by the “intelligence ‘ of devices simplified… But these forms of intelligence are never artificial.
