WWE breaks its all-time gate record of $21.5 million after selling over 90,000 tickets for WrestleMania 40 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia

WWE broke its previous gate record by selling over 90,000 tickets for the two-day WrestleMania 40 event at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia in April 2024.
The previous WWE gate record was held by WrestleMania 39, held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in early 2023 and grossing $21.5 million.
WrestleMania 40 marks the first time the annual event has been held in the Northeastern United States since WrestleMania 35 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
It will also mark the first time the show has been held in Philadelphia since WrestleMania 15 in 1999, when “Stone Cold” defeated Steve Austin The Rock [Dwayne Johnson] for the WWE Championship.
Ticket sales for the event began Friday to the general public, and according to WWE, that already broke the gate record Action Network’s Darren Rovell.

WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes – who is expected to play a key role in the event if he is healthy at the time – recently told the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Isabella DiAmore that he believes Philadelphia is the “perfect place” for WrestleMania 40 be.
“I would say a wrestling audience in Philadelphia is a controversial wrestling audience,” Rhodes said.
“Whatever the narrative, Philly won’t guarantee you that they’ll agree with that narrative.” In a sense, if they really like someone, they’ll tell you, and if they don’t like someone they might like, they will they’ll let you know too.”
WWE Superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin later told Philly Live’s Aunyea Lachelle that he’d like to compete against some of the Philadelphia Eagles’ stars, like Jason Kelce and Jalen Hurts.
‘Who knows?’ said the Miz. “I’ll take the full offensive.”
“I’m going to tag the team with Patrick Mahomes,” he joked.
Booming ticket sales should be a huge win for WWE, with seats close to the action on the floor costing up to $10,000 on both nights.
