Vince McMahon For the past year, he has been in the news because of the scandal that befell him, which forced him to resign from his position as WWE President. Against all odds and all logic, this week Mr McMahon has returned to the WWE board of directors, sparking concern from fans who fear he will regain creative control of the company. The fear is justified, according to what was said during Wrestling Observer Radio: Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the return of Vince McMahon and hinted at how he might truly take back creative control over WWE.
“I think because he’s going to be the key person for the sale, maybe he’s looking for guarantees[dass er die Verantwortung übernehmen wird].
The thing about Vince is, if the deal went well for shareholders and he wasn’t responsible once it was sold… He was out of his hands, he could never come back.
So he had to do something like, “I’m not going to approve a sale unless the terms are right,” and they had to take him back and pretend everything was fine because he was in any negotiation about the next TV deal or for said the sale if he had not been blamed again he would have blocked he would never have agreed. So in a way their hands were tied.
The idea of Vince taking over and all that, I don’t think it’s going to happen in a few months, I don’t think it’s going to happen this week or anything.
In practice, he has presented a document in which he says that he will only work when it comes to the sale or the television deal and as long as the company is listed he must respect it.
But my gut tells me that once the sale is complete, he’ll probably try to take over and regain creative control. I think everyone expects it. I don’t expect these steps to be taken immediately, but it’s obvious that Vince wants to be the creative lead.
And Vince has the power to make it happen, likely he’ll have the opportunity sometime this year with no ill effects.
Within WWE, fear is just that wins will regain creative control of the company. We just have to wait for further developments, which we will report to you.
