WWE Legend “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan says he wrestled an intruder to the ground before holding him at gunpoint with a .44 caliber pistol.

A man in his 20s walked into Duggan’s South Carolina through the front door earlier this month, forcing the 68-year-old former pro wrestler to demonstrate he’s still a force to be reckoned with.

Duggan revealed the details of the incident during an interview with Wrestling Inc. last Friday, before tweeting that he was grateful to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department for their support.

Hacksaw fought in WWE, then called WWF, between 1987 and 1993, playing the role of the American Patriot. His trademark weapon in the ring was a 2×4 piece of wood.

“Thank god we didn’t shoot him,” Duggan said while narrating the episode to the wrestling publication.

Duggan was at home with his wife Debra, also 68, around 6.45pm on December 8 when the intruder entered their home.

As the man entered, he and his wife heard others screaming in the neighborhood, he told Wrestling Inc. The man was reportedly “hysterically terrified” when the hacksaw successfully apprehended him.

When Duggan had the man on the ground, he said he held his hands with one hand behind his back and kept his gun on his lap until the deputies arrived.

The intruder, while being retrained, told Duggan that he entered his home because he was fleeing people who were after him.

He also reportedly knocked on the doors of a number of neighbors before jumping over Duggan’s fence and entering his front door.

The retired wrestler added that he heard more people outside and worried there might be more trouble, so he even turned off his Christmas lights and told the man to keep quiet.

In a statement on Twitter, Duggan expressed his gratitude for the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department who attended the scene after they were called by his wife.

In the Post, he said: “A man we had never seen before climbed our fence, ran through our garden to our front door and banged on our glass doors.

“Before we could reach the door, he opened it and fell into our house. I held him at gunpoint while Debra called 911. We are safe with no harm.”

Duggan was the first-ever Royal Rumble winner in 1988 and the first US Heavyweight Champion in World Championship Wrestling. In 2011 he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

A particularly iconic moment in his career occurred at Madison Square Garden in 1988 when he knocked out French wrestler Andrew the Giant, who weighed around 520 pounds at the time.

Last year, the pro wrestler said he announced he was finally cancer free after an ongoing battle.
