WWE presented the Royal Rumble 2023 live from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on January 28th. In this event, the winner of the Royal Rumble match wins a match against their champion of choice at WrestleMania 39.
– The 2023 Royal Rumble Pre-Show begins with a welcome from the panel consisting of Kayla Braxton, Booker T, Jerry Lawler, Kevin Patrick and Peter Rosenberg.
– We’re showing Roman Reigns’ interview with Jimmy Fallon last night at the Royal Rumble.
– We’ll see behind the scenes the bloodline that is silent. Reigns says that when he gives an order, the Bloodline must follow. It’s a recipe that works, it’s easy. He gives an order and Zayn can’t follow it. Why can’t he? Sami wanted to answer, but Jey Uso cuts him off and says it’s him. Jey says Adam Pearce took the two out of the game. Reigns was busy with his interview, he couldn’t speak to him, so he called Sami Zayn to get his help with the family. Zayn was there for the family. Reigns asks if it’s serious. Jey agrees. Reigns says tonight is fight time. Schedule, the Usos gotta watch out, it’s a big night. For Zayn, he has to follow him all evening. He’ll show Zayn how it’s done, and the Usos will stay backstage Because tonight is Zayn’s night. Zayn says he’s ready.
– Behind the scenes, Greg Miller from the show This is Awesome can be found on WWE Network JBL. JBL begins to criticize his worth, saying he would plug his phone into his machine to keep him alive. JBL changes the subject and says he wants to be his friend, but throws a cake in his face.
– We present a video about the return of Cody Rhodes.
– We present a video about the rivalry between Kevin Owens and the Bloodline.
– The pre-show ends with the final comments of the panel.
WWE Royal Rumble San Antonio, Texas
Commentators are Michael Cole, Corey Graves and Pat McAfee.
– Tonight is WWE Royal Rumble, the special show begins with the opening video with singer Hardy narrating. The commentators greet us and Pat McAfee’s music begins. McAfee regains his place as commentator.
30-man Royal Rumble Match
Winner gets a title match at WrestleMania 39.
Highlights:
- Gunther is the first participant. Sheamus comes second.
- Johnny Gargano returns from injury in #5.
- Brock Lesnar comes in at number 12 and begins outing Santos Escobar, Angelo Dawkins and Chad Gable.
- Bobby Lashley arrives at #13 and manages to get Lesnar out of the ring! Lesnar is enraged and launches a march of steel. Baron Corbin arrives at #14 but Lesnar booques him ringside to give him an F5. Officials arrive and Lesnar agrees to go.
- #17, Rey Mysterio’s music starts, but nobody comes. In #18 Dominik Mysterio arrives with Rey’s mask on his head.
- Booker T comes in at #21, but Booker T does his spin-a-roonie and Gunther takes the opportunity to knock him out.
- Edge returns in #24, eliminating Finn Balor and Damian Priest. Edge goes to take Dominik out, but Priest and Balor pull Edge down the ring to take him out. Edge is angry and fights Priest and Balor on the ramp. Rhea Ripley comes to bang Edge! Beth Phoenix comes and impales Ripley. Officers arrive to separate them.
- Logan Paul comes in at #29 and finally Cody Rhodes at #30.
At the end of the fight, Cody eliminates Theory with a clothesline. Rollins, Gunther and Rhodes remain in the ring. Rollins and Rhodes trade punches. Logan Paul gets back in the ring and throws Rollins in the ring to surprise everyone! Rhodes blocks a shot from Paul and crosses it over Rhodes throwing it down the ring. Rhodes and Gunther remain. The two trade strikes. Then Gunther slams him across the chest and slides him over the apron. Cody pushes him back and gets to the corner, but Gunther hits him and takes him to the corner to do a superplex. Rhodes regains energy and begins punching him from Gunther and Springboard Cutters. Rhodes then crossed Rhodes and clotheslined him out of the ring.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
– After the fight, Cody celebrates his victory among the Pyros.
Pitch Black Match
LA Knight vs. Bray Wyatt
At the end of the match, Knight tries to hit Waytt with a kendo stick, but Wyatt blocks him with a Sister Abigail for a three count.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
– After the fight, Wyatt puts a mask on his head. Knight flees into the crowd, but Wyatt gives chase. Knight tries to push him away with a kendo stick, but Wyatt stays on his feet. Wyatt uses his Mandible Claw Submission on him. Uncle Howdy comes down from a podium and splashes Knight across the floor.
– Introducing the promo video of WrestleMania 39, which will take place in 63 days.
– WWE announces 51,338 fans in the room for tonight.
RAW Women’s Championship – Singles Match
Alexa Bliss vs Bianca Belair (c)
At the end of the fight, Bliss wants to do a Sister Abigail, but Belair knocks her down in KOD for the three.
Winner: Bianca Belair
– After the fight, Belair celebrates on the ramp. A video of Bray Wyatt starts and Bliss is speechless.
– Introducing the video of Elimination Chamber 2023 in Montreal starring Brock Lesnar.
30 Women Royal Rumble Match
Winner gets a title match at WrestleMania 39.
Highlights:
- Rhea Ripley comes first and Liv Morgan second.
- B-Fab arrives at No. 7 to make her first televised match on the main list, but Ripley throws her right out of the ring.
