From a unification match, we move to a 6-man tag team match involving the absolute champion. Will the original meeting simply be postponed or canceled altogether? What’s certain is that this gathering will lay the groundwork for something we’ve been waiting a little more for as summer draws to a close! Welcome to the WrestleMania Backlash Report from your “demon” Alan Mack!
We open the evening with the usual kickoff, featuring Kayla Braxton, Booker T, Kevin Patrick, JBL and Peter Rosenberg. After greeting the viewers and renewing best wishes to all the mothers of the world, we are handed the map of the event to then move on to the recap of the rematch between Seth Freakin’ Rollins and Cody Rhodes. The panel immediately took the floor, recalling that Seth was at a disadvantage at WrestleMania for not knowing who his opponent was, while now he has no excuses. They continue to comment on Cody Rhodes, the return and Seth’s words about the late father during the weeks on Raw. All 4 predict Cody Rhodes as the winner.
After returning from the break, we are shown Omos and Bobby Lashley’s route to their meeting here in Providence. Joining the panel is MVP, who says he’s nervous. Kevin Patrick asks him what it means to have Omos on his side since he achieved the world title with Lashley. Booker stops him and reminds him that it was Lashley who left him. MVP thanks him, saying it’s all about the business that made him want to move on to something “bigger” and he won’t let emotions get in his way. Kayla asks him what makes Omos observable. He replies that it’s thanks to him that he’s the X Factor and that he’s going to make him even bigger. Brandshaw wants to know how much damage it will do to Lashley tonight. MVP reports Omos’ words about breaking Lashley in half. He keeps complaining that Lashley was in the spotlight at WrestleMania. All but Kevin Patrik predict Omos as the winner. MVP replies to Kevin, reminding him that Lashley was great before he arrived, after which Bobby became the most dominant force on the roster. Omos asked MVP to guide him to do the same as he did for the Almighty.
After saying goodbye to MVP, let’s continue talking about the clash between AJ Styles and Edge and remember that Damien Priest is banned from the ring after the end of the match that can be seen on Raw. Here, too, Kevin argues with the odds. While everyone goes with Edge, he goes with Styles.
30 minutes after the end of the kickoff, the talk is of the I-Quit match for the SmackDown Women’s Title. After offering his thoughts on both of them, their history and the events of the past few weeks, Kevin again predicts Ronda while the others go to Charlotte.
After a short pause and the recap between Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss, the latter introduces himself to the panel. Booker asks him for a joke, but for Moss it’s no joke time, this is the most important match of his career. He and Corbin had a great time, but everything was fine now. The moment things went bad, Corbin started pointing fingers at them because he believed he was superior to everyone. Now that he is alone he can hear the entire audience on his side which makes him happy and excited. Booker gives him fashion advice, criticizes the belt and suspenders, Moss replies that it’s a matter of protection, there’s nothing that will make his pants fall down. Moss returns serious, focused and ready for this meeting. The odds are 50 and 50. Kevin and Booker choose Madcap, the others choose Corbin.
Paul Heyman and the Usos exit the office, are stopped by Mitchell and ask him about tonight’s game. Heyman complains that he didn’t wish the mothers of Roman Reigns and the Usos a Happy Mother’s Day. This has everything to do with what happens in the ring tonight as Randy and Riddle’s mums will be disappointed they gave birth to two disappointments. As for McIntyre, naming a sword after your mother is psychopathic and needs to be dealt with. Treatment you receive from Roman Reigns.
The last match we should talk about is the 6-man tag team match. The point of the speech is Drew McIntyre, who can be the pinnacle of the game’s record. But the other team has one more member: the family! Again, everyone predicts Bloodline as the match winner, while Kevin predicts RK-Bro and McIntyre.
Kickoff ends here! The match that starts the show will be Seth vs. Cody!
