Stifler’s mother had started it.
In 1999, Jennifer Coolidge stormed onto the stage after playing Stifler’s mother in American Pie. In the film she was coveted and referred to as “MILF”. After the film’s release, the fiction was pretty close to reality.

“I have a lot of fun being a MILF, and I have a lot of sex with ‘American Pie,'” she told Variety. “There were so many benefits to doing this film. I mean there would be like 200 people I would never have slept with.”
Not only was Jennifer seemingly busy in the bedroom after the role, but she was also a hot commodity professionally. After American Pie, she got a slew of roles, which was relatively new to her.
“Ten years of my life auditioning,” she says, “none of it has led to a job. The fear is gone when you’re so used to losing. There is a certain freedom in that.”

Those begging days seem far behind her as she recently received her first Emmy nomination for her work in White Lotus. Just last year, the actress revealed that she almost didn’t take the role because she was unhappy with her weight.
“I just didn’t want to be so fat on camera because of my overeating during COVID,” she told Page Six last year. “I thought we were all going to die, I really did, so I just ate myself to death. Vegan pizzas, sometimes five or six in a day.”
Jennifer, 60, even made up a story about why she couldn’t star in “White Lotus,” but a friend stepped in and convinced her to take the role.
“Jennifer, that’s all you got! What the hell?” she recalled to the unnamed pal. “She said, ‘Those opportunities aren’t coming, you idiot!'”
“We all need these friends,” the actress explained. “A lot of actors make big mistakes, I don’t know why, we want a great moment to happen, but when it comes to it we kind of make excuses, I think it’s very typical for an actor to screw it up for themselves , but I had a great friend who stopped me from doing it.”
