For some time now, Microsoft has been constantly updating the interface of its gaming consoles to make the experience more comfortable. In September of this year, the Redmond company is preparing to roll out an update that will notably improve the use of Discord on Xbox and much more. All new features will be available later this week. An update to the Xbox application on the PC is also planned.
Stream your gaming sessions from your Xbox to your friends on Discord
Discord has been available for a few months and offers a great alternative to Xbox friend groups. The application is constantly being improved as it will soon be possible to share your gaming sessions with your friends directly from your Xbox.
It couldn’t be easier. After linking your Discord account, simply click the Xbox button on your controller, go to the Groups & Conversations tab, select the channel, and then stream your game.
A new option for VRR
If you have a VRR compatible TV, you can now choose how you want to use this feature via the console. An option in the settings will actually offer to enable VRR permanently, only when gaming, or never. To do this, go to “General,” “Viewing and TV Options,” and then “Video Modes.”

Better integration of Microsoft Rewards
When the update rolls out, it will be easier to find your rewards and rewards. In fact, if you press the Xbox button, go to the Profile & System tab, and then click My Rewards, you’ll find your Xbox Game Pass quests right away.

A new option to join a friend’s session
Instead of joining a friend’s game directly and disturbing them, a new option lets you ask via a notification if it’s possible to join their session. To do this, simply go to your player profile and click on “Request to participate in the game”.
Your friend will then receive a participation request notification asking them to invite you to play or send you a message.
Improved Wishlist
If you are interested in certain titles or DLC from the Microsoft Store but are waiting for a reduction, know that you can add these items to your wishlist to be notified of possible promotions, for example.
You’ll soon be able to use Settings to decide how and in what situations notifications appear (promotions, game release, or availability on Xbox Game Pass).
To do this, go to “Settings,” “Preferences,” and “Notifications.”
Connect your devices remotely
Instead of getting up from the couch to sync a headset or controller to your Xbox, an option is offered to do it remotely.
All you need to do is go to the Xbox Accessories application and use the Connect Device option.
Some improvements to the PC application on Xbox
In addition, the PC application has numerous additions:
- Faster performance
- Celebrations for upcoming games
- The loading times of the game detail pages have been improved
- Added new fonts and button styles as well as animations
- Library and install queue updates
- Added filters for installed, custom and PC Game Pass games
- Added a “Play Later” dropdown menu
- The queue has a settings menu that makes it easy to manage the preferred installation drive, automatic updates, and more.
- The countdown to the start of the game is back.
- The app home screen is a Starfield-inspired image
