Xiaomi is preparing to launch a new folding smartphone: the Mix Fold 3, which aims to replace the current Mix Fold 2. We learned this week from GizmoChina that the device, rumored since February and expected in the coming months, would come with a new photo part and some other interesting novelties.
This information comes primarily from the leaker Digital Chat Station, which regularly sees almost Chinese phones. The person recently anonymously shared information about a new folding smartphone. However, the details provided by the leaker suggest that this device would be the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, the specs of which have been revealed here and there by various sources, GizmoChina notes. With that clarification, we can expect the following.
A flagship…in any sense?
We first learn that the smartphone would come with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The device would also be based on an atypical photo part consisting of four rear sensors… including two optical zooms. According to Digital Chat Station, the first would offer 3.2x magnification and would be primarily intended for portraits, while the second would be displayed at a 5x zoom thanks to a periscope design. The latter would be designed for long-range shooting.
The Mix Fold 3 would also adopt a “thin and light” design and come with a “waterdrop” front camera. There would also be compatibility with wired charging at 67W, as well as inductive charging, this time at 50W.
According to other sources, including MIUI Code quoted by GizmoChina, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 would internally respond to codenames “Babylon” or “L18” and would have been referenced “2308CPXD0C”. Xiaomi is preparing for a launch sometime in August, further details are not known at this time. We also know from previous leaks that the machine would come with an 8.02-inch main screen and a 6.5-inch rear panel. We also read that these two screens have a Full HD+ resolution and can go up to a frequency of 120 Hz.
It now remains to be seen if this Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will arrive in France… or if it will remain a Chinese exclusivity. Thanks to a formalization that logically should not be long in coming, a reaction is expected in the coming weeks.
