A Redmi that wants to be more premium
With the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, Xiaomi places emphasis on delivering a powerful smartphone. The Dimensity 1080 chip from MediaTek is integrated for this. It offers good everyday fluidity, be it using your applications or multitasking. It also allows you to play 3D games with an average level of graphics while avoiding slowdowns. Please note that you must be careful of the rapidly increasing heat.
With a 5,000 mAh battery, the phone lasts a day and a half, and in energy saving mode it even lasts until the end of the second day. The real plus point is its compatibility with 120W charging. This allows the battery to go from 10% to 100% autonomy in less than 30 minutes – a very good result for the price.
Without shining in every respect
The design of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is relatively ordinary but effective. We appreciate the glass back, which offers a better grip in the hand, but it’s a bit too susceptible to fingerprints for our taste. One of its real strengths is its comfortable 6.67-inch OLED screen with 120 Hz and Full HD+ resolution. In our measurements, the brightness peaked at 799 cd/m2 and a nice Delta E. This is one of the best possible experiences for a smartphone in this price range.
To conclude the photo part: The 200-megapixel main sensor is good, even if it doesn’t glare. We can deplore a slightly capricious HDR mode, a slightly aggressive portrait mode and a completely useless macro sensor. It still offers beautiful shots, but you won’t be your friends’ official photographer.
