XXVI. Sao Paulo Forum Meeting: Powerful in Conviction, Faith and Courage

The XXVI. Meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum, held from June 29 to July 2, 2023 in the city of Brasilia, passed a resolution in solidarity with Cuba, recognizing “the United States government’s constant and systematic hostility towards Cuba.” manifested itself in the unprecedented tightening of the economic, trade and financial blockade” as well as “its extraterritorial character with the application of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act”.

Representatives of the political parties of the Latin American and Caribbean left, as well as progressive movements in the region, agreed to “demand the unconditional lifting by the United States of the criminal and intensified economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.” Government for more than 6 decades”.

Delegates also agreed to systematically and urgently develop public and media mobilization actions to condemn the aggressive escalation of Yankee imperialism against the Cuban people.

The support resolution states: “Despite the restrictions imposed on Cuba by the policy of economic siege, its socialist revolution, without resorting to neoliberal recipes, has achieved that its people enjoy fundamental rights and freedoms for the full development of all Cubans. Renunciation of the internationalist practice that “has contributed to the development of human rights in many countries around the world”.

In this context, the participants of the XXVI. FSP expressed their firm solidarity and commitment to “the Communist Party of Cuba, the revolutionary government and the Cuban people in their efforts to preserve the sovereignty and independence of the country and to uphold unalterably the decision to build socialism”.

Finally, the document recalls the legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz’s struggle against US imperialism and its allies, quoting him: “If the enemy is powerful in its resources, in its aggression, in its wickedness, then we have it. “We must be stronger than him in our dignity, in our revolutionary strength, in our conviction, in our faith, in our courage!”

This edition of the Sao Paulo Forum took place after a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Its central motto was “Regional integration to promote the sovereignty of Latin America and the Caribbean”.

The XXVI. Meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum, held from June 29 to July 2, 2023 in the city of Brasilia, adopted the following Solidarity Resolution with Cuba based on the following considerations:

WE ARRANGED:

  • Call for the unconditional lifting of the criminal and intensifying economic, trade and financial blockade that the United States government has imposed on Cuba for more than six decades,
  • DEMAND the exclusion of Cuba from the illegal and false list of countries that support terrorism.
  • REJECT the programs of subversion, destabilization and media warfare against Cuba,
  • DEMAND the return to the Cuban people of the territory illegally occupied by the Guantanamo Naval Base, which has been usurped by the United States government for more than 120 years and violates Cuban sovereignty.
  • SPREAD the truth about Cuba in contrast to the US government-sponsored media campaigns that systematically defame and misrepresent Cuban reality and hide the achievements of the revolution.
  • TO SUPPORT the Cuban Revolution based on the principles of solidarity, social justice, internationalism and the unity of our peoples,
  • DEVELOP systematic and urgent mobilizing public and media actions and condemn the aggressive escalation of Yankee imperialism against the Cuban people.
  • TO SUPPORT all Cuban efforts for the unity, integration and realization of peace among the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean,
  • RECOGNIZE that, despite the limitations imposed by the economic policy of siege on Cuba, its Socialist Revolution, without resorting to neoliberal recipes, has achieved that its people enjoy fundamental rights and freedoms for the full development of all Cubans. In addition, his constant internationalist practice has contributed to the development of human rights in many countries around the world.
  • CONFIRM our firm solidarity and commitment to the Communist Party of Cuba, the revolutionary government and the Cuban people in their efforts to preserve the country’s sovereignty and independence and to firmly uphold the decision to build socialism.
  • In the struggle against US imperialism and its allies, let us unite our actions with the legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz: “If the enemy is mighty in his resources, in his aggression, in his wickedness, we must be more powerful than him in our dignity, in our revolutionary strength, in our conviction, in our faith, in our courage!”
