Paramount+ has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Yellowstone prequel series 1923.
Billed as “a Yellowstone origin story,” the limited series stars box office legend Harrison Ford and Academy Award winner Helen Mirren as an early 20th-century generation of the Dutton family. The trailer below was released during the Yellowstone Season 5 premiere on the Paramount Network.
Showrunner Taylor Sheridan’s project follows patriarch Jacob (Ford) and matriarch Cara (Mirren) and explores “the early 20’s call it home.”
This is the first time the 80-year-old Indiana Jones and Star Wars star is directing a dramatic television series. 77-year-old Mirren’s previous work includes Prime Suspect and the HBO miniseries Catherine the Great. She received an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in The Queen (2007).
The limited series also stars Darren Mann (Animal Kingdom), Michelle Randolph (A Snow White Christmas), James Badge Dale (Hightown), Marley Shelton (Scream), Brian Geraghty (Big Sky), Aminah Nieves (Blueberry) and Jerome Flynn ( Game of Thrones).
The program builds on the success of the previous 1883 Yellowstone prequel, which chronicled the Duttons’ journey from Texas to the family home in Montana.
Paramount+ will premiere 1923 after an episode of Yellowstone on December 18th and then delay airing of the second episode until January 1st.
