Yolanda Hadid fired back at viral criticism on social media of the way she was raising her supermodel daughters, Gigi and Bella.
Recently, 58-year-old Yolanda faced backlash after a user on TikTok created a compilation of old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills clips and accused her of “starving” her daughters when they started modeling.
In one of the resurfaced clips, Gigi, 27, complained that she felt “weak” after eating half an almond, and Yolanda advised her to eat “a few almonds.” However, the reality TV star took the indignity in stride and posted a humorous TikTok video of her eating almonds, captioned: “#worstmomever #almonds.”

Her video showed her chewing the nuts while engaging in various everyday activities, like sitting by the fire and smelling flowers.
The former Dutch model, who has a farm in Pennsylvania, was also filmed eating almonds while enjoying the routines of country life.
She nibbled on nuts while visiting her horses and could even be seen feeding some of her farm animals from her almond shell.

Controversial: In a viral old clip, Gigi called Yolanda and said, “I’m feeling really weak — I had like half an almond,” and Yolanda replied, “Take some almonds, chew them up really well.”
Yolanda’s defiant TikTok stance followed a storm of denunciations on social media over the way she specifically told Gigi to cut the weight.
Gigi began her modeling career during her mother’s reality TV years, which means the cameras caught Yolanda’s particular parenting style.
Over the years, a number of compilation clips have made the rounds online of Yolanda instructing Gigi to restrict her calorie intake.
Unflappable: Yolanda, however, took the indignity in stride and posted a TikTok video of herself eating almonds with the caption, “#worstmomever #almonds”

A particular compilation video posted to YouTube three years ago managed to rack up a whopping seven million views.
In one of the clips in this video, Yolanda hinted that Gigi should give up her volleyball hobby because it could make her body too manly.
Yolanda claimed that modeling required a “feminine” figure, that volleyball players “eat like men” and that she suspected her athletic daughter was “lesbian.”
Another clip showed Gigi expressing her excitement over eating ‘heart attack’ food – and Yolanda responded by telling her she ‘might have a night where they’re down’.

Gigi’s mother reminded her that she would have to “go back to her diet” afterwards, “because in Paris and Milan they like girls who are just a little skinny.”
Another clip showed Yolanda confessing to Gigi, “It’s hard to exercise six days a week and it’s hard not to eat sugar and it’s hard to have to eat salad every day…”
One of the most famous clips shows Yolanda scrupulously limiting the size of the slice Gigi can eat of her own birthday cake.

Most notorious, however, is the footage of Gigi calling Yolanda and saying, “I’m feeling really weak — I had like half an almond,” and Yolanda replied, “Take some almonds, chew them really well.”
Meanwhile, Bella, who followed her older sister into modeling, recently said she suffered from “eating disorders” growing up.
“Growing up, I thought it was normal to have this chronic anxiety and dissociation, crying every day and not knowing who I am,” she told iD.
“Whether it was an eating disorder or I’ve been smoking a pack of Marlboros since I was 14, I’m always like, ‘Oh, all kids do that.’ I realized that maybe I was trying to figure out why I felt this way. And in reality, all I needed was therapy.”
Diet: ‘[She] made sure they never ate anything too high in calories, not even cake on their birthday,” the TikToker said in the clip
Bella shared that as an aspiring model, she continued to suffer from body dysmorphia, which affected the way she responded to her fame.
“During that part of my life, I was so out of body, so detached … I was so confused by what people were seeing of me,” she said.
“I still see comments on Instagram when I’m sitting on the couch and I’m like, ‘Are they talking about me?’ I don’t understand how I got to this point where people either appreciate my work or know who I am.”
She told Vogue this year that she suffered from anorexia as a teenager, which she attributed in part to the Adderall she was prescribed for ADHD.

The interview sparked a storm of controversy when Bella revealed she had nose surgery when she was just 14.
Social media erupted in anger at Yolanda for having her daughter have cosmetic surgery at such a tender age.
Bella herself regretted the procedure, saying: “I wish I had kept the nose of my ancestors. I think I would have grown into it.”
Yolanda is from the Netherlands, while Gigi and Bella’s father, Mohamed Hadid, is a Palestinian who was born in Nazareth just months after the founding of Israel.
