A woman has sent TikTok into crisis by demonstrating the “correct” way to hang baubles – and claimed the vast majority of people were doing it wrong.
The 11-second clip was shared by a Florida TikToker who uses the pseudonym @sunshinethedoggo – and quickly received over 42,000 likes and hundreds of comments.
Instead of hanging the baubles individually, the ornament hack involves tying them together in groups of four or five before attaching them to the Christmas tree.
The woman recommends using a pipe cleaner or flexible wire to connect balls of different sizes, claiming that it “looks so much better” when they hang from the branches.
Their new technology caused a stir among viewers. While one praised the method by writing: “This is AWESOME!!!”, another explained: “My tree is full of memories.” Ornaments from holidays or special occasions. It’s not about aesthetics.’
Instead of hanging the baubles individually, the ornament hack involves tying them together in groups of four or five before attaching them to the Christmas tree
The TikTok video, titled “Ornament Hack for Your Christmas Tree,” begins with the words “Common Mistakes.”
Then the message “Don’t hang your jewelry like this” and an image of a single iridescent ball hanging from a tree appear.
“Instead, do this: Group several ornaments on a piece of pipe cleaner,” it continues, as the decorator lines up the balls to form a group.
The woman places the largest ornament in the center, with smaller ones on either side containing shades of white, silver and gold.
She then secures the loop by tying the pipe cleaner to the top before positioning it on a branch and claiming, “It looks so much better.”
The influencer suggested hanging the baubles on the tree in bunches and adding individual ornaments to the branches instead
The finished product appears to create a fuller appearance on the Christmas tree.
Scores of viewers flocked to praise the woman for sharing the hack, with one commenting: “This is BRILLIANT!!!”
A second agreed, writing: “Very clever idea.”
While another person said: “I’ll try that! Looks beautiful.”
Someone else wrote: “Such a game changer.”
Another person agreed and said: “Very nice!” I do the same thing with myself. I like a really full tree.
However, others were less impressed and preferred a traditional method of tree decoration.
One simply wrote: “No thanks.”
Another explained: “My tree is full of memories.” Ornaments from holidays or special occasions. It’s not about aesthetics.’
Meanwhile, one person quipped: “Pipe cleaners? Let me just go to the 50s.
And someone else added: “Who needs this when you have a toddler who wants to decorate it so it’s already all balled up?”
One viewer, who would have preferred to have watched the video sooner, admitted: “I put my tree up yesterday, otherwise I would have done this.”
