“You don’t have to be primitive and decent!” Ellie Taylor reveals she’s doing it strictly to show young girls like her daughter that women can be “funny and silly.”

Ellie Taylor has revealed she does Strictly Come Dancing to show young girls like her daughter that women can be “funny and silly”.

The 38-year-old comedian – who shares Valentina, three, with husband Phil Black – said she wanted to prove that you don’t always have to be “primitive and decent” and that sometimes you can just be a “Wall”.

Ellie is teaming up with South African professional dancer Johannes Radebe on this year’s series and has received mixed reviews for her performances so far.

She told The Mirror: “You want to see more women on TV who are funny so little girls know it’s okay to be a woman and be funny and silly.

“You don’t have to be stiff and decent, you can be a Wally. I want to show that to my daughter.”

On the subject of feminism in general, she added: “We stand on the shoulders of the generations ahead that have progressed and had a much tougher time.

The first-ever Paso Doble dance of the series, Ellie and partner Johannes performed in matching purple ensembles for Strictly last Saturday.

“I felt like you were just walking around and posing, not really dancing,” Craig criticized the dance, while Shirley admitted, “It lacked the complete energy of a pase double, I just lacked it.”

But when Motsi and Anton noticed Ellie’s “beautiful line” they were more positive about the number – as Johannes said he was “so proud” of his partner.
