Reese Witherspoon defends her decision to eat snow as critics online express skepticism about how safe and hygienic it is.
“The Morning Show” star recently posted a TikTok video featuring her recipe for a “snow salt chococcino” that raised more than just eyebrows on social media. The recipe itself calls for packing a large amount of snow into a coffee cup, which is then topped with generous drizzles of chocolate and salted caramel sauce. It's finished off with some cold brew, which Witherspoon says adds a “yummy coffee flavor.”
Some skeptical of Witherspoon's snowy dessert have questioned whether there is any point in eating snow. (Just to clarify: Scientists say it's safe to eat snow, but there are important caveats.)
“We got snow from the backyard and put it in the microwave and it's clear. “Is that bad?” Witherspoon asked in one of three videos in which she defended her decision to eat snow. Ultimately, she was “in the 'you only live once' category.”
Witherspoon revealed that she grew up with unfiltered water: “We drank from the tap water. We actually put our mouths to the tap.”
“What you're telling me is that I have to filter the snow before I eat it?” she added.
Witherspoon thinks her chocolatey, snow-filled cold brew is “delicious.” The jury is out.
