You Tubers The Try Guys part ways with Ned Fulmer: The Drama Explained

If you’ve been spending time on social media, you’ve no doubt seen tweets and posts about the drama surrounding The Try Guys and Ned Fulmer YouTube group. The group has nearly 8 million subscribers on YouTube, but you can’t be sure what they’re doing and who Ned Fulmer is.

Let’s start at the beginning.

Who are the Try Guys?

The Try Guys, a group consisting of Keith Habersberger, Eugene Lee Yang, Zach Kornfeld, and (until recently) Ned Fulmer, are YouTubers who essentially “try out” things. Weird things, from eating weird food to trying to simulate labor pains.

Some of her most popular videos focus on topics like trying nail extensions, eating every food item at Taco Bell, or wearing a corset for 72 hours.

The Try Guys was originally a Buzzfeed series when it launched in 2014, but the group eventually went independent. A YouTube channel created in 2018 has become very popular and currently has 7.8 million subscribers.

Who is Ned Fulmer?

Fulmer was a member of The Try Guys, known for being a “husband” as he regularly spoke about his wife, Ariel Fulmer, in videos and other Try Guys media. He and his wife have co-authored a cookbook, and both are regulars on the You Can Sit With Us podcast. This is important for what comes next.

So what happened?

In short, Fulmer was caught cheating on his wife online. He is no longer a member of The Try Guys.

After some old-fashioned online Reddit investigation, a now-deleted video of Fulmer cheating on his wife has been leaked online. This very detailed twitter thread does a great job of explaining the details if you want to get into that. Essentially, fans of the group noticed Fulmer’s absence from recent Try Guys content and began delving deep into the implications. The result, a video of Fulmer kissing another woman, was found and shared across the internet.

Why is that important? It comes after several public cheating incidents have surfaced online and gone viral, most recently involving singer Adam Levine. In this case, the glee of a “husband” — an online term for someone who is constantly public about how much they love their wife — at being caught cheating has caught fire online.

Amid the drama, The Try Guys issued an official statement saying they had split from Fulmer.

“Ned Fulmer is no longer working with The Try Guys,” the statement said. “As a result of a thorough internal review, we see no common way forward.”

Fulmer himself also posted a statement online.

“Family should have always been my priority, but I lost focus and had a consensual relationship at work,” he said. “I’m sorry for any pain my actions have caused the boys and the fans, but most of all Ariel. The only thing that matters right now is my marriage and my kids and that’s what I’m going to focus my attention on.”

Ariel Fulmer also released a statement.

“Thanks to everyone who has reached out to me – it means a lot to me,” she wrote on Instagram. “Nothing is more important to me and Ned than our family and all we are asking right now is that you respect our privacy for the sake of our children.”
