Young Jewish woman is stabbed at the door of her home in France

The victim survived and said the attacker covered his face; The police found a swastika on the door

A 30yearold Jewish woman was stabbed to death this Saturday (November 4th, 2023) in her home in Lyon, southeastern France. She survived and told police she was attacked by a man with a covered face and dark clothing who rang her doorbell and stabbed her twice. The young woman’s life is not in danger.

French police reported finding a swastika on the woman’s door but were unable to determine whether the attacker had placed the symbol there. No one has been arrested for the attack, but police believe it may have been an antiSemitic act.

The mayor of Lyon, Gregory Doucet, supported the victim and classified these and other acts as “indescribable”. Since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began, France has recorded several episodes of antiSemitic attacks, including paintings of Stars of David on the facades of Jewish buildings and shops.

“On Saturday a Jewish woman was stabbed and an antiSemitic symbol was found on her door. This wave of violence is indescribable. All my support goes to the victim and his relatives,” he continued in his profile X.

On Friday (November 3, 2023), the Vice President of the European Commission said that the European Union’s priority is to protect the Jewish community in the bloc. To this end, in his opinion, the EU has increased the level of protection in Jewish places of worship and schools.
