King David Jewish High School in Vancouver was the first to announce on Facebook on Sunday the disappearance of one of its former students, Ben Mizrachi, a young man who graduated in 2018.

According to the Vancouver Sun, Mr. Mizrachi’s parents flew to Israel in the hope of seeing their son again.

“I was with the family and there are no words […] “In a situation like this you can’t say anything,” Rabbi Jonathan Infeld of the Beth Israel Synagogue told the daily.

A family friend, Ginaya Peters, told the Vancouver Sun that Ben Mizrachi attended the Hamas-targeted music festival in southern Israel, near the border with Palestine.

The Advisory Center for Jewish and Israeli Relations also confirmed Ben Mizrachi’s disappearance to Global News, noting that the family had demanded respect for his private life.

Another Canadian, Montrealer Alexandre Look, was killed in the terrorist attack at the festival on Saturday. The young man, who was on vacation in Israel and about to return, spent his last moments on the phone with his parents.
