Fardereen Deonta Grier (East Point Police Department)
East Point, Ga. – The nephew of Atlanta rapper Young Thug is in custody for allegedly shooting his girlfriend in East Point.
A spokesman for the East Point Police Department told TMZ that Fardereen Deonta Grier was arrested Wednesday and charged with the murder of Destiny Fitzpatrick.
According to TMZ, officers responded Tuesday afternoon at a house on the 4000 block of Foxhunt Lane and found Grier crying and Fitzpatrick dead in a pool of blood by the front door.
Police say Grier originally told officers he fought off two armed, masked intruders, but later admitted he shot the victim in the face.
Officials say while he was being questioned, Grier told investigators he was the son of Young Thug’s sister, a source later confirmed to TMZ.

Former Attorney Explains RICO Charges Against Young Thug, Gunna
Proceedings against Atlanta rappers Young Thug and Gunna continue. Charging someone under a RICO law is a strategy that has become popular as a method of prosecuting suspected gang members.
The 30-year-old Atlanta rapper, whose legal name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, is also in custody after authorities filed a full indictment under Georgia’s RICO statute in May. The 88-page indictment alleges that Williams, fellow Atlanta rapper Gunna, and 26 others are part of Young Slime Life, or YSL, a subgroup of street gang Bloods. Prosecutors allege that those named in the indictment have been involved in violent criminal activity in the city since 2012.
A Fulton County judge denied Williams bail in June, saying he was taking into account a 2015 threat attributed to the court that said, “Anyone who walks into the courtroom and speaks the honest truth of God will.” bloody killed.” The judge said the validity of this threat would need to be proven in court, but it does suggest he may pose a danger to the community.
If convicted on any of the RICO charges, Williams faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
