Although the picture appeared to have no one next to it, a long line of tourists waited for their chance to stand on a certain stairway and take a picture.
“Showing the reality behind Oia, Santorini. It will most likely be crowded at the famous sunset spot in Oia and people will be queuing to take photos at the blue-domed spots unless you get there at 7am,” Lucy explained in the caption.
However, ‘Oia is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, so no wonder it attracts so many people. Would you get up early to see Oia without the crowds?!’
Lucy revealed that she has been visiting the island of Santorini every summer for the last three years and every time she notices it gets busier.

‘It was nice to see it empty in 2020, but definitely not the case at the moment… If you want to experience Santorini with a peaceful and authentic atmosphere, you should definitely stay away from the ‘hot spots’ mentioned and stick to the alleys get lost or visit other villages like Imerovigli, Mesaria, Megalochori and Fira which are less and less busy,” she said.
Her 200,000 followers were shocked by the scenes Lucy filmed and many were surprised by the crowd waiting for a unique photo.
“I also visited the summer of 2020, it was probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see it so empty!” said one woman.

The blue domes of the churches of Agios Spyridonas and Anastaseos in Oia are considered some of the most photographed rooftops in Santorini.
The two buildings are right next to each other and are iconic examples of the island’s Cycladic architecture.
There are some great vantage points along the lanes west of the churches, which often get crowded towards the end of the day as people seek the best spot for the perfect sunset photo.
