Project initiator Sean Bérubé said he was extremely relieved when he received confirmation late Wednesday afternoon.

The delay is explained by the fact that they had to be recognized by the Ministry of Education as eligible to receive their education in English, as St Patrick’s School was the only one that could accept them into its educational program. Ice Hockey.

“It’s a total relief. I am very happy that they can finally start school because, to be honest, I started to get very worried,” said Sean Bérubé, who also organized their visit last February.

“The boys are very happy too. They were keen to start, I think they asked me that question every day,” he adds.

The young men were also entitled to an orientation visit on Thursday morning in order to prepare for integration into the new environment on Friday.

A delay to catch up

Even though he is happy about this news, Bérubé still has certain fears about their school education, because in addition to getting used to it, they have to fill a gap when they start school, nothing that makes their work with the host families easier.

However, he said he was reassured that the school had taken several measures to make it easier for them to adapt and learn.

They will also take the ice with their new team for the first time on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at PEPS at Laval University for the first game of the season.
