YouTube said on Tuesday that it has banned all channels associated with British comedian and actor Russell Brand from generating advertising money because the company is violating its “Creator Responsibility Policy.”

The Internet video platform has taken this measure to “protect” to its users due to the numerous complaints of sexual assault and psychological abuse against Brand by several women that have emerged in recent days.

YouTube’s decision to block streaming revenue applies to “all channels that may be owned or operated by the actor”.He is 48 years old, the platform confirmed to the BBC.

“When off-platform behavior harms our users, employees or ecosystem, we take action,” a YouTube spokesperson said today.

Brand’s main channel on the platform has more than 6.6 million subscribers and more than 2,400 videos posted.

Other channels associated with her main YouTube page include Awakening With Russell, Stay Free With Russell Brand and Football Is Nice, which together have around 500,000 subscribers.

YouTube’s suspension came after British police reported yesterday that they had received a sexual assault charge against the presenter last Sunday, after a journalistic investigation over the weekend uncovered testimonies from four women who claim between 2006 and 2013 to have been attacked.

This complaint relates to events that allegedly took place in 2003 in the central Soho district of the British capital.

Last Saturday, The Times, The Sunday Times and Channel 4 published statements from four women accusing the actor of rape, sexual assault and psychological abuse.

Other women also say they suffered “controlling, abusive and predatory” behavior from Brand, according to the investigation into the comedian, who worked at BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4 and has also appeared in various comedy films has. Hollywood.

Brand denies all allegations and suggests that they are the result of a “plot” against him by the traditional media.

The actor denied all the claims and said in a Video statement that their relationships have “always been consensual.”

Known for his wild and daring routines, he hosted radio and television shows, wrote memoirs about his struggles with drugs and alcohol, appeared in several Hollywood films, and was briefly married to pop star Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012.

Brand was suspended from the BBC in 2008 for making offensive jokes about Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs in which he bragged about having sex with Sachs’ granddaughter. He left his radio show after the incident, which led to thousands of complaints to the publicly funded broadcaster.

In recent years, Brand has largely disappeared from mainstream media but has built a large following online with videos that mix wellness and conspiracy theories. His YouTube channel covers COVID-19 conspiracies, vaccine misinformation, and interviews with right-wing hosts like Tucker Carlson and Joe Rogan.
