The Yvon Michel Group (GYM) has been summoned to a disciplinary hearing by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ) in connection with events that took place after the gala on October 7th.
According to the subpoena obtained by the QMI agency, Yvon Michel and GYM executive vice president Alexandra Croft “verbally attacked Ms. Sylvie Lécuyer and Mr. Benoit Roussel and attempted to intimidate them.”

The first is a representative of the RACJ, while the second was one of the three referees who served during the world championship fight between Kim Clavel and Evelyn Bermudez.
The Quebecer lost this duel by split decision. Roussel gave a map of 96-94 in favor of the winner.
One application was rejected
Five days before the fight, Michel had requested that the judge be removed from the fight. This application was rejected by the RACJ. At a press conference following Clavel’s setback, the promoter explained that he had compiled statistics to justify his request and that Roussel tended to favor the GYM pugilist’s opponents.
“That same evening, during a press conference, you made similar comments to the Régie and its officials,” the RACJ also emphasized in its summons.
A severe sanction?
The date for the hearing has not yet been set. GYM’s approval to organize boxing galas could be suspended or canceled. The company could also be excluded from its right to obtain a new permit for a certain period of time.
On July 30, 2020, the GYM permit was suspended for a period of 15 days for a charity “Fixed Fight” exhibition between former mixed martial arts fighter Patrick Côté and strongman Hugo Girard.
At the time, the RACJ said it had considered a 30-day sanction, but reduced it by half given the harsh circumstances imposed on combat sports promoters by the COVID-19 pandemic.
