In an interview with LCN, the 32-year-old sportswriter says her former colleague helped her feel her place in Montreal’s sports media landscape.

“We had a lot of fun with Yvon,” she says. When I was on the cover of the Montreal Canadiens for programming […] I only went out with Pierre on Saturdays [Houde] and Yvon. These two men took me under their wing.

“It wasn’t easy in 2001,” adds Ms. Machabée. Yvon was exceptional. He introduced me to everyone and made sure I was part of the team. What I remember of him is that he is a passionate man. Passion for his job, passion for sport, passion for hockey.”

The one who has worked for the Montreal Canadiens since January 2022 has the memory of a man with passion.

“He’s an extremely versatile man who has a lot of knowledge,” she said. We’re losing a big one. We are losing a man of exceptional journalistic accuracy who had his contacts everywhere.”

“He was probably the hottest reporter in the National Hockey League. He spoke to business leaders, coaches and players. He checked, he compared his information. It is an extremely sad day. I think everyone is in shock. I have an extraordinary memory of it.”
